Four nightclub patrons have been charged with contempt of court for allegedly failing to pay their food and beverage bills.
In the early hours of Sunday, March 6, Delilah Raila, Evy Cheptoo and two other individuals who were not present in court apparently grew rowdy, calling everyone in the restaurant names and refused to pay the bill. The two were accused of getting credit at Black Star' s Lounge under false pretenses and causing a disturbance that was likely to disturb the peace.
According to testimony given in court, she also purchased three bottles of Red Bull energy drink at Sh1, 650, two bottles of 300ml Coke worth Sh500, a one- liter bottle of mineral water worth Sh400, and two chicken breasts worth Sh3, 000.
She also allegedly placed orders for seven Hennessy VS 750ml bottles worth Sh70, 000 and six Belaire Luxe 750ml bottles worth Sh75, 000, which she shared with a group of friends she was partying with while claiming to pay when she knew she wouldn' t.
One of the accused entered a plea before Senior Principal Magistrate Monicah Maroro, denying all charges and pleading for liberal bail and bond conditions.
She claims that on some specific occasions, she is compelled to spend the night with club patrons in order to pay her costs. She was given a cash bail of Sh50, 000 though, as well as an alternative bond of Sh100, 000 with an equal- sized surety.
This incident occurs barely a week after another man from Kajiado County lost Kenya shillings, one hundred thousand to a nightclub lady. The nightclub lady is said to have drugged the man before committing her crime after the man fell unconscious. Members of the public are thus requested to be keen especially those who visit the clubs.
